Forging Futures: Health and Disability in the Non-Profit Sector

Forging Futures is a free one day event that aims to bring together representatives of health and disability organizations and youth to present and exchange on current themes related to Canadian disability movements, the non-profit sector and youth engagement.
The event includes a disability arts competition that is open to people who self-identify as having a disability between the ages of 16-25. The call for submissions is below and more information can be found at : www.forgingfutures2015.com
Refreshments and lunch will be provided to those who register.
Space is wheelchair accessible, ASL interpretation provided, alcohol-free, and an attendant will be available for support needs.

Submissions close promptly at 11pm on Friday September 18th, 2015
Accepted artists will be notified by September 25th. All physical artwork must arrive at the University no later than Sept 25th at 5pm in order for it to be installed. The jury will be composed of artists in the disability community. Results will be announced at the reception on Fri. Oct. 2nd, 2015 and you are encouraged to attend.
Forging Futures aims to: (1) spark conversation among different organizations working around disability and health; (2) create an opportunity for young adults to network with disability and health-related organizations; and, (3) share research findings from the Disability Organizations study led by the University of Ottawa. This presents an opportunity to showcase the artistic achievement and expression of artists with disabilities.
