Workshops on International Human Rights vs. the Law on Social Assistance

Independent Living – Montreal and Ex aequo invite you to two workshops presented by Sylvia Bissonnette, from the Centre de recherche et de formation sur la pauvreté. On Monday, October 21 and 28, come join us for workshops full of information, activities and discussion. Let us come together to understand our rights, our system and what we can do about it.

It is possible to register for only one workshop. Please note however that the workshops build on each other.

To fully benefit, it is encouraged that participants attend both sessions.

Workshop 1: Monday October 21, 1:30 – 5:00 pm

· Presentation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights

· Major lines of social assistance

Workshop 2: Monday October 28, 1:30 – 5:00 pm

· Overview of the “Extension of the Law” table to compare international human rights versus Quebec’s social assistance.

· Presentation of FCPASQ’s projects.

· FCPASQ’s five propositions to diminish the gap between rights and reality.
